Lavar Ball has been getting a lot of social media attention, as his middle son, Liangelo Ball, came out with his hit single “Tweaker”. This sparked a trend on TikTok, as the meme was that Lavar went “3/3” with his sons since all three have become successful overall. Lavar Ball is the CEO of the sports apparel brand Big Baller Brand.

Leading up to February 19th, the elder Ball had been missing on social media for a while. This was rare since he typically makes multiple posts daily. Then, just as suddenly as he stopped posting, he reappeared, making his first public appearance since the short disappearance. In a post to his Instagram account, Ball shared a picture that revealed that his leg was amputated as a result of an unknown “serious medical issue.”

This tragedy has sparked a lot of sympathy and confusion as the news came out of the blue. One of the most common topics of discussion has people on TikTok speculating that LaVar Ball sacrificed his leg for his sons to be successful.

Ball, ever the showman and entertainer, stated on the Primby TikTok account, “I may not have my foot anymore but you know what I got now? That primby TikTok verification. Did y’all forget I’m LaVar? If I wanted to, I’ll grow it back. I might swerve in that corner woaaah ohhh” showing how much of a joyful man he is; happy with anything as long as he is alive.

In addition, his son Lamelo Ball, an all-star Charlotte Hornets player, posted on his Instagram before his game against the Lakers, “Seen my dawg b4 da game it was only right I love you pops 5L and forever.” He would later go on and dominate the Lakers with his typical style and flair on the court.

Lavar Ball has had an outsized impact in the community through the promotion of his family.  His amputated leg won’t stop him from cracking jokes, rage-baiting (A well known term that is used when someone is trolling at the cost of making someone frustrated and or upset), and going out in public to promote his brand because, after all, “Guess what the story is now, who is better Lavar or Michael Jordan?”

Typical (and funny) Lavar Ball.
