An all-school assembly was held where Neuwirth gathered to participate in several exciting games.

Crowds of students were shouting and supporting their classmates during Neuwirth’s first all-school assembly. The occasion was held on the 27th of September and involved scholars from each grade level competing in various activities. The event was coordinated by Ms.Dagnino, our wonderful principal, and numerous teachers such as Mr.Winchell and Ms.Stobart, who helped throughout the pleasing experience. It was fun, eventful, and loud. Cheers from each grade echoed throughout the Middle #12 gym with everyone showing off their Boxer spirit. The event aimed to show pride in our grades and try to be better than the other grades, in a playful way.

It began about an hour and a half before school ended. Ms.Dagnino then explained the reason for the entire student body being gathered was to act on and emphasize the importance of one of Neuwirth’s core values: wellness. The first activity that was announced was one where students in each grade level had to show the greatest amount of enthusiasm and participation, the Freshmen were quite silent, the Sophomores were breaking the sound barrier, the Juniors were extremely loud, and the Seniors were heard throughout the gym. The cheer squad then performed a well-executed dance routine which ended in an impressive pyramid stunt.

The freshmen and sophomore received their student of the month certificates and Rock-Paper-Scissors soon followed, where each grade level was expected to play the game until there was a winner, Micheal from Rivera’s advisory was victorious and received a championship belt to represent his win. Soon after, Ms.Stobart asked people who were in specific sports such as volleyball, track, and cross country to stand up and be recognized.

Students were asked to cheer for their grade level as a repeat since there was a tie between the Sophomores and Seniors. The Student of the Month ceremony continued, and the Juniors and Seniors chosen for Student of the Month were told to claim their certificates.

Another fun event happened which was “Dance Off” where two people from each grade came up in the middle and went up against each other. Some notable dancers were an inflatable shark, a bear, and two freshmen who pulled out some outstanding moves! When that ended the cheerleaders came up and danced as well, it looked impressive, especially with them picking up a cheerleader and making a tower.

The gathering and tournaments were a success as many were entertained and it left a memorable impression on most of the audience, especially when the sophomores were screaming at the top of their lungs every time they got called on. Additionally, the assembly was a great method of showing school spirit and taking a break from academic work to focus on one’s well-being.

Hopefully, at the next assembly (November 22 - the day before Thanksgiving break) we can expect to see new amusing contests! Overall, the whole event was a unique experience and the staff involved put in remarkable effort to provide scholars with great enjoyment and fun.
